Country Girls Creameryfresh & local

Welcome Country Girls Creamery to the CCFM Family!

It’s hard to fill the big shoes Bill Ryals of Rocking R Dairy wore at our markets, but we’re excited to welcome Country Girl's Creamery to the CCFM family! Country Girl's Creamery is a family owned and operated farm run by the father-son team of Kiahnell and Butch Smith. They produce natural Jersey cow dairy on their Pearl River County farm, just 80 miles outside the city in Lumberton, MS. While they are state certified to sell their cow milk in Mississippi, they are busy undergoing the process of becoming federally inspected so they can start bringing their delicious milk to our markets here in Louisiana. In the meantime, you can find them at our Saturday and Tuesday markets (Tuesday attendance beginning 4/7) with their fantastic hard and soft cow dairy cheeses, butter, grass-fed beef, pork and eggs. Come on out to market this Saturday and give them a warm CCFM welcome!

Marketeers!pick of the week

Marketeers & The Urban Farmstead!

This Saturday we’ll be using recycled egg cartons to do arts and crafts with the Marketeers! Just in time for Spring, they’ll be making baby chicks with the help of our market volunteers, and decorating them with paint, markers, crayons and all kinds of fun stuff! Come on out this Saturday and be sure to bring the kids!

Southbound GardensWe’re thrilled to be working with our newest Wednesday market vendors, Southbound Gardens. It’s not just because of their awesome selection of plant starts available at market, but we love their permaculture education initiative, the Urban Farmstead too. Through the Urban Farmstead, Ian and Jordan are working to make DIY gardening skills and permaculture knowledge accessible to all. Never been to one of their workshops? Be sure to check the second half of their “Basics of Organic Veggie Growing” workshop at 2pm this Saturday at Hollygrove Market and Farm. The topics will be: garden bugs – friends and foes, fertilization, and compost & mulch. For more information on the upcoming class and all their future classes, follow them on Facebook. Get out there and get learning with the Urban Farmstead!
