CCFM on WWNO Tuesday

Calling all Marketeers! Tune in to WWNO FM 89.9 April 8 from 7:00 a.m. to 9 a.m., when marketumbrella.org executive director Richard McCarthy hits the airwaves in support of the city's premiere public radio station. 
WWNO, which broadcasts National Public Radio news and programming — as well as great classical music — is in the midst of its annual spring pledge drive. Show your support by listening and calling in your pledge Tuesday morning.

When you think about it, the Farmers Market and public radio have a lot in common. Listener-supported, commercial-free WWNO is a public town square of sorts, where people come together over a shared desire for information and entertainment; the Crescent City Farmers Market, likewise, is a place where people from all walks of life gather to celebrate New Orleans food and the people who grow it, catch it and cook it. Market shoppers, vendors and supporters of the public town square as expressed by both CCFM and WWNO — listen up, and call in!

Your pledge guarantees that WWNO will stay on the air with NPR's award-winning news and classical music. To sweeten the deal, the Crescent City Farmers Market will reward donors with our signature tokens, wooden currency good for purchases at our Tuesday and Saturday Markets. Market Umbrella is an independent nonprofit 501(c)(3), based in New Orleans, whose mission is to cultivate the field of public markets for public good. Market Umbrella has operated the Crescent City Farmers Markets (CCFM) since 1995.

Crescent City Farmers Market

 

The Crescent City Farmers Market operates weekly year-round in four New Orleans neighborhoods. The CCFM hosts nearly 80 local small farmers, fishers and food producers, and more than 100,000 shoppers annually.
