Thursdays in Mid-City just got brighter! The Mid-City CCFM returns Thursday, January 14, from 3-7 p.m. on Orleans Ave. at the Bayou, in the parking lot of the American Can Co. Come by for seasonal local produce, Louisiana shrimp, fish & crabmeat, dairy (cow & goat milk, yogurt & cheese), pasture-raised poultry, yard eggs, freshly baked bread, plants and prepared items. CCFM gladly accepts credit, debit & food stamp cards at the market Welcome Tent.
As many will remember, eight years ago, local farmers & fishermen gathered in the parking lot of the American Can Co. for the first time to sell their products to crowds of hungry New Orleanians. When we regrouped after Hurricane Katrina, one of the casualties was this much-loved Thursday evening market.
In the spring of 2008, thanks to Cork & Bottle proprietor Jon Smith’s steadfast commitment to his community and the dedication of a core group of market vendors, the Mid-City Green Market opened in the same space.
Now, our friend Jon Smith is handing the market back to us. The “first” Mid-City CCFM is Thursday, January 14, from 3-7pm, in its original location. Stay tuned for more delicious details!
