In the spirit of giving, we're pleased to announce the winners of our most recent Crescent Fund voting: the Green Project's grammar school environmental education program and Bittersweet Confections' website improvements. Twice a year we award funds to projects that reinforce our belief in linking public markets with public good. A big thank you to everyone who voted at the market and online, and to everyone who invests in our market community throughout the year by contributing to the Crescent Fund when purchasing market tokens.

Tuesday Market, December 21, 2010 | 9 am - 1 pm

Uptown New Orleans | 200 Broadway Street at the River

Kids out of school for the holidays? Bring them to the market this Tuesday. In addition to learning more about where their food comes from, kids looking to make sure they're on Santa's "nice" list can help haul off sacks of Plaquemines Parish citrus and pecans (last market of the season for Inglewood Farm, so stock up!), pretty plants from Jim Mizell, and all the fixings and natural decorations for the holiday table.

Follow Taceaux Loceaux on Twitter (@TLNola) for menus and locations other than the CCFM Tuesdays in December and its usual haunts: 45 Tchoup on Thursday nights and Dos Jefes Uptown Cigar Bar on Friday and Saturday nights.

Thursday Market, December 23, 2010 | 3 pm - 7 pm

Mid-City New Orleans | 3700 Orleans Avenue at the Bayou

Last call for collards! Lots of folks have been asking, and the answer is yes! We'll be out there this Thursday with plenty of locally-grown produce, dairy, meat and seafood for the holiday table, and last minute holiday gifts. Still have a few names to cross off your list? Market tokens, available in $5 denominations, make great gifts, especially when paired with something tasty from the market.

Saturday Market, December 25, 2010

Downtown New Orleans | 700 Magazine Street at Girod

No market this Saturday. Happy holidays!

Recipe of the Week

Santa's sure to be extra generous to those who leave Cuccidata (Italian fig cookies) and milk for him. They also make great, home-baked holiday gifts. This classic New Orleans recipe and many more are included in our Crescent City Farmers Market Cookbook, available at the CCFM and here.
