Fresh Item of the Week
Tuesday Market, December 28, 2010 | 9 am - 1 pm
We suspect that many may still be working on holiday left-overs, but those crisper draws have got to be bare. Come out to the market this Tuesday for green veggies galore, including the requisite New Year's cabbage and plenty of salad fixings - lettuce, carrots, broccoli, greenhouse tomatoes - to get a jump start on healthier eating New Year's resolutions.
Thursday Market, December 30, 2010 | 3 pm - 7 pm
Brussels sprouts just might be the cutest vegetable out there. For those hesitant to commit to an entire head of cabbage, try its tiny cousin in the Brassica family. Pick up a few baskets of brussels sprouts from Jim Core and shred them raw using either a mandolin or food processor fit with the shredding blade. Toss the shredded sprouts with toasted Louisiana pecans or walnuts, shaved Pecorino Romano and a simple vinaigrette of Meyer lemon juice, olive oil, salt and pepper for a super simple, restaurant caliber salad.
