The newly formed NOLA Locavores has issued a challenge: for the month of June, eat only food grown, raised or produced within 200 miles of New Orleans. In collaboration with NOLA Locavores, the Crescent City Farmers Market is offering two incentives to take the Eat Local Challenge. Those who sign up for the challenge will recieve a $5 discount on our Crescent City Farmers Market Cookbook. Eat Local Challenge participants can also take part in an Around The Radius Recipe Contest. Points will be awarded to recipes that include foods from a wide variety of farms and waterways within the 200 mile radius of the Eat Local Challenge. A final taste off (open to the public!) will take place at the CCFM Saturday, June 25th.

The Crescent City Farmers Market operates weekly year-round in four New Orleans neighborhoods. The CCFM hosts nearly 80 local small farmers, fishers and food producers, and more than 100,000 shoppers annually.
