Did you know that the Crescent City Farmers Market has a club just for our 14 and under shoppers? All "Marketeers" - our next generation of good eaters - receive a birthday card worth $5 in market tokens during their birthday month. We also host kids activities during the first Saturday market of every month. Signing up is easy and free - just visit the welcome tent at any of our three Crescent City Farmers Markets for a Marketeer sign-up form. You can also use these to change your address in case your family moves. Or download the form from our website.

Tuesday Market, October 25, 2011 | 9 am - 1 pm

Uptown New Orleans | 200 Broadway Street at the River

Lately we've been fielding lots of questions at the welcome tent about where to buy locally raised poultry. Well, Joe and Jackie Dobie of Briarhill Farms have you covered at our Tuesday market. In addition to spicy Bloody Mary mix, pickled okra and onions, jellies and when in season, hard to find items like mayhaws, chestnuts and even bamboo shoots, the Dobie's offer several types of poultry including chicken, Cornish hens and quail. Stop by their tent and ask Ms. Jackie about her favorite way to prepare Mr. Joe's poultry.

green plate special

This week the Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group returns with lunch items from the Red Fish Grill. We're super excited to try the Hominy, Ham & Onion Soup, Local Goat Cheese, Arugula & Clover Honey Tart, and BBQ Oyster Wrap they're offering tomorrow.

Thursday Market, October 27, 2011 | 3 pm - 7 pm

Mid-City New Orleans | 3700 Orleans Avenue at the Bayou

This lovely chilly weather has us thinking about soup, soup and soup! Stop by the Thursday market for a quick and easy dinner. Pick up fresh, homemade soup from the Vintage Garden Kitchen or Georgie's English Kitchen and pair it with a multi-grain baguette from Forte Grove Bakery for a light, healthy dinner. Grab some cookies from Lana Mayer or some cheese from Rocking R Dairy and you've got a scrumptious local dinner.

Saturday Market, October 29, 2011 | 8 am - 12 noon

Downtown New Orleans | 700 Magazine Street at Girod

This Saturday we're sharing our Warehouse District neighborhood with the Jazz Half Marathon and 5K, benefiting Children's Hospital. The race starts at 7:00am down the street from us at Lafayette Square. If you're coming from Uptown, your best bet is probably to take Tchoup to come shop. If you usually take I-10 to the market, opt for the Tchoupitoulas exit over the St. Charles Ave. exit. Want bonus points? Wander over to the finish line at Lafayette Square to cheer on the runners!

Recipe of the Week

We're still hanging on to some late season eggplant, which is a bargain right now. Pick up a mixed variety sack from the Monica's or a basket of Ichiban eggplant from the Core's for this Eggplant Caviar. The recipe calls for two large eggplants, but several of the smaller varieties are a fine substitute.
