Join the Crescent City Farmers market on Saturday, December 10, 2011 to welcome longtime Market friend, supporter and chef John Besh to the Market for a book signing and cooking demonstration.
John Besh will be signing his newest cookbook, My Family Table: A Passionate Plea for Home Cooking from 8-11am as well as doing a cooking demonstration of one of the delicious recipes featured. In My Family Table, the Iron Chef champion makes a case for the importance of home-cooked meals. "If I can help make a difference by cooking simply and sharing what I love to cook, I can possibly help us all use our passions and skills to make our lives better at almost every meal."
In addition to his many cookbooks, John Besh also owns eight restaurants: August, Besh Steak, Luke, La Provence, American Sector, The Soda Shop, Domenica and Luke San Antonio. In order to better serve his community by bringing a focus to his efforts in New Orleans, John Besh founded The John Besh Foundation in 2011. The Foundation recently made its first investment: to the Mauthe Family's Progress Dairy in Mississippi to purchase glass bottles to revive the old-fashioned reuse of glass bottles for local milk.
A great Christmas gift for the food lover or New Orleanian, My Family Table is sure to please. Our Saturday market is held from 8-noon at 700 Magazine Street (Magazine at Girod). Mark your calendars to come out for this holiday event!
