Fresh Item of the Week

fresh item of the week

The gorgeous birthday cake former CCFM vendor and past Crescent Fund recipient Cheryl Scripter of Bittersweet Confections baked for our downtown market's 16th birthday in October reminded us just how much we miss her and her hand-crafted confections. This said, we're thrilled to have Bittersweet Confections as our newest neighborhood downtown - directly across the street from our Saturday market! Sign up for Bittersweet Confection's email list here. And if you're craving a sweet treat or a cup of hot cocoa, or need to knock out some holiday shopping, stop into 725 Magazine St. and see what goodie Cheryl is sampling.

Tuesday Market, December 6, 2011 | 9 am - 1 pm

Uptown New Orleans | 200 Broadway Street at the River

Gear up for all your upcoming holiday parties at our Tuesday market. Bags of Plaquemines Parish satsumas from either A & K Citrus or L'Hoste Citrus make delicious, healthy hostess gifts. Grab some of Bill Ryals' raw goat milk cheddar for a fantastic holiday cheeseboard, or pick up fresh spinach from Timmy Perilloux for dips and salads. What are your favorite holiday party treats? Share them with us on our Crescent City Farmers Market Facebook page.

green plate special

This month we welcome the fabulous food truck Geaux Plates to our Tuesday market. They'll be set-up right along side where our GPS tent usually is (making room for additional seating under the tent). Stop by and enjoy a Bayou or Veggie Banh Mi, one of their delicious homemade soups or their Barq's Root Beer Braised Cochon de Lait.

Thursday Market, December 8, 2011 | 3 pm - 7 pm

Mid-City New Orleans | 3700 Orleans Avenue at the Bayou

This past Thursday the market sparkled with holiday cheer and lights! Stop by this Thursday and check out what made from scratch soup offerings Vintage Garden has for a soul-warming dinner. And while you're there, talk to their amazing staff about giving the gift of a soup-scription as a holiday gift this year.

Saturday Market, December 10, 2011 | 8 am - 12 noon

Downtown New Orleans | 700 Magazine Street at Girod

Need a great gift for the cook in your family? Join us this Saturday for a cookbook signing with longtime CCFM supporter and local farmer friend Chef John Besh. He'll sign his newest cookbook: My Family Table: A Passionate Plea for Home Cooking until around 11am, and show us how to make one of the delicious recipes featured in it. In My Family Table, the Iron Chef champion makes a case for the importance of home-cooked meals. "If I can help make a difference by cooking simply and sharing what I love to cook, I can possibly help us all use our passions and skills to make our lives better at almost every meal."
