Join us beginning at 3pm. The free event will be recorded for an upcoming episode of the new MSN web series "Appetite for Life with Andrew Zimmern" and Poppy Tooker's "Louisiana Eats!" radio program on WWNO 89.9FM. Tastes of etouffee will be given in exchange for contributions to CCFM's community programming. See you Thursday!

Tuesday Market, January 24, 2012 | 9 am - 1 pm

Uptown New Orleans | 200 Broadway Street at the River

Louisiana strawberry season is in full swing! Look for them on the tables of Heather Robertson of Johndale Farms and Isabel Mendez. Strawberries are the best kind of food - healthy, delicious and a reminder that winter doesn't last forever. Slice some up and add them to a bowl of oatmeal on chilly mornings.

green plate special

Tuesday market shoppers have been loving Beaucoup Juice's salads, paninis, and of course juices. Only a few weeks left to catch them under the Green Plate Special tent. Try a Carne-val Panini and a Flu Buster juice, or grab a Delicious Delachaise salad and a big cup of their Freret juice for a tasty, healthy lunch.

Thursday Market, January 26, 2012 | 3 pm - 7 pm

Mid-City New Orleans | 3700 Orleans Avenue at the Bayou

Every bowl of etouffee starts with rice. Poppy Tooker and Andrew Zimmern will be serving theirs over local Cajun Grain rice this Thursday. Did you know that Cajun Grain's rice, rice grits and rice flour are all gluten free and high in protein? After you taste Poppy and Andrew's delicious etouffee, pick up some Cajun Grain rice since it's not every Thursday that they join us at the market.

Saturday Market, Janaury 28, 2012 | 8 am - 12 noon

Downtown New Orleans | 700 Magazine Street at Girod

Mississippi Natural Products shiitake mushrooms are a healthy addition to your dinner plate. They're full of antioxidants and can help lower cholesterol. In addition to fresh mushrooms, Mississippi Natural Products also has "shiitake dust," a blend of dehydrated shiitake mushrooms and herbs. This delicious seasoning adds the flavor of shiitake mushrooms when fresh shiitake aren't available. Try sprinkling it on steaks, roasted potatoes, pasta, pork or chicken.

Recipe of the Week

Add Cajun Grain rice grits and fresh shiitake mushrooms to your farmers market shopping list for these Wild Mushroom Grillades, an innovative take on a classic New Orleans dish.
