We at the Crescent City Farmers Market and cherish any opportunity to talk about our favorite thing... farmers markets. Anyone surprised? Does the recent chilly weather have anyone besides us craving a slice of warm, delicious pie from Mrs. Chauvin, a.k.a. "the pie lady"? If so, you're in luck! Mrs. Chauvin is back from her post-holiday break this week with her blue ribbon-winning homemade pies.

Join us as we say good-bye to Beaucoup Juice during their final market visit of the month. We've so enjoyed their fresh juice blends like the Flu Buster, their fresh sandwiches and salads. Skip the brown bag Tuesday and come see what they have up their sleeves for their last week's menu.

Our Thursday market gets a brightening boost this week with an investment in new lights for evening shopping. Stop by and pick up warming soup from Vintage Garden Kitchen, healthy seeded bread or a Galette de Roi from Forte Grove bakery, locally raised meats from Rocking R Dairy and salad fixings from Bartlett Farms. And don't forget about Cork and Bottle's free Thursday night wine tastings!

Kids, join us for our monthly Marketeer event, where we'll get ready to celebrate one of our favorite times of the year - Mardi Gras! And for adults, Randy Fertel will sign his new book "The Gorillaman and the Empress of Steak." Fertel weaves not to be missed, larger than life stories about his iconic New Orleans family as he turns an insider's eye to his parents - Ruth, founder of Ruth's Chris, and Rodney, known as "The Gorilla Man" for his quixotic 1969 run for mayor - with the sights, sounds, and tastes of New Orleans. Join us from 10 am to noon to get your copy of this fascinating book.

Market Umbrella is an independent nonprofit 501(c)(3), based in New Orleans, whose mission is to cultivate the field of public markets for public good. Market Umbrella has operated the Crescent City Farmers Markets (CCFM) since 1995.

The Crescent City Farmers Market operates weekly year-round in four New Orleans neighborhoods. The CCFM hosts nearly 80 local small farmers, fishers and food producers, and more than 100,000 shoppers annually.
