Join us on the eve of St. Joseph's Day as we celebrate the patron saint of workers, families and social justice with a locavore St. Joseph's Day altar at Bittersweet Confections (725 Magazine St) from 3-6pm. Domenica Restaurant will provide Pasta Milanese, Italian wines will be offered, and visionary philanthropist and agronomist Oran B. Hesterman of the Fair Food Network in Ann Arbor, Michigan will sign copies of his new book Fair Food: Growing a Healthy, Sustainable Food System for All. Tickets are $30 in advance here or at any CCFM location, or $35 at the door. Ticket price includes Pasta Milanese and 2 drinks; free for children under 12. All proceeds will benefit the Crescent City Farmers Market's community programming.

We're excited to welcome Fat Hen Grocery to the CCFM this week! This week they'll have ΒΌ BBQ chicken, smoked beet salad with Rocking R goat cheese, local pecans and pomegranate molasses vinaigrette, Fat Hen cornbread with satsuma honey butter, and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. Anita deBoisblanc of White Wood Farms has recently joined our Thursday market with her artisanal jams, jellies, marmalades, preserves, and butters. Catch her this week and every other Thursday, as well as most Saturdays. Anita uses Louisiana grown fruit picked (and usually personally hand-picked) at the height of its season.

We're sadly nearing the end of citrus season. A&K Citrus will be at market until mid-month, so come get your fill. Freeze freshly squeezed citrus juice in ice trays for quick smoothies or cocktails year-round. This late in the season, store fresh citrus in the refrigerator maintain freshness as the season wanes.

Recipe of the Week

Carrots are popping up all over all three of our markets, bringing bursts of color and crunch. Add color to your menu this week with this wonderfully simple Carrot Puree from Chef Matt Farmer at Apolline.

The Crescent City Farmers Market operates weekly year-round in four New Orleans neighborhoods. The CCFM hosts nearly 80 local small farmers, fishers and food producers, and more than 100,000 shoppers annually.
