Thursday Market, April 12, 2012 | 3 pm - 7 pm

Mid-City New Orleans | 3700 Orleans Avenue at the Bayou

It's no secret that New Orleans loves to (and some of us live to) eat, drink and be merry. With all of that eating, drinking and celebrating, we should be mindful of our health. At our Thursday market this week, we're helping you do just that. LSU Community Health nursing students will be at the market offering free blood pressure screenings. Stop by their table, then reward yourself for taking that step with a fresh, healthy market dinner Thursday night. As always, there will be fresh seafood from Pete & Clara's Seafood, vegetables from Bartlett Farm, Vintage Garden and Barrilleaux Farm, and a host of other delicious market goodies.

Saturday Market, April 14, 2012 | 8 am - 12 noon

Downtown New Orleans | 700 Magazine Street at Girod

Festival season is in full swing, with French Quarter Festival livening up the already very festive French Quarter. But just because it's festival time, you shouldn't miss out on the market. Our Saturday market opens at 8 am, so visit us early to stock up on the very freshest of our local bounty before you head to the Fest. We'll even have hot (or iced) coffee waiting for you at the Welcome Tent.

Recipe of the Week

Louisiana strawberries are the sweetest you can get! We've found all kinds of uses for them, but this simple recipe for Louisiana Strawberry Ice brings us back to sweet afternoons spent enjoying italian ice. You can substitute other seasonal fruit for strawberries if you have a hankering for ice at a time when strawberries are not available, just be sure to adjust the amount of sugar to taste.
