Chris Gerica, daughter of CCFM Louisiana seafood vendor Pete & Clara Gerica, served up their family's freshest catch at her GPS debut last Tuesday. She's back this week with more fresh caught local seafood, and maybe some more Gerica family members in tow!

Thursday Market, June 14, 2012 | 3 pm - 7 pm

Mid-City New Orleans | 3700 Orleans Avenue at the Bayou

We're excited to welcome more vendors to our Thursday market this summer. Tony Accardo is back with his pop-up heirloom tomato and pepper shop. J&D Blueberry Farm is also making a comeback to Thursday markets with beautiful berries. Come welcome these local farmers back to the market this week and add some stunning color and flavor to your meals!

Saturday Market, June 16, 2012 | 8 am - 12 noon

Downtown New Orleans | 700 Magazine Street at Girod

Everyone has been enjoying the Eat Local Challenge activities on Saturdays in June and this week should be no exception. Saturday morning the market will be buzzing with a beekeeping discussion with Paw Paw’s Honey (Did you know his son is a bee keeper too?). Come by and hear about how to start beekeeping and why it’s so important. Pick up a jar of local honey while you’re there and start thinking sweet thoughts about bees and their impact on our food, community and environment.

Recipe of the Week

Blueberries and barbeque reach their seasonal heights simultaneously, yet they're rarely combined on a plate. Chef Darin Nesbit brilliantly combines the trademark local flavor of New Orleans coffee & chicory, local honey and tangy local berries in this show-stopping Blueberry Barbeque Sauce that's delicious on roast duck, rotisserie chicken or grilled pork tenderloin.
