Summer is sweeter with corn from CCFM

Fresh & Local

It’s chicken keeping week at CCFM! Join us Saturday morning to learn from Josh, an experienced chicken keeper. Josh can help you decide if chicken keeping is for you. Come learn about what they eat, how much space they take up, how to best care for them, and more! It’s time to finally learn which came first: the chicken or the egg.

Pick of the Week: Corn!

We have sweet corn popping up all over market! This sweet summertime favorite is great grilled, boiled and buttered, and creamed off the cob. Corn has a short season here, so be sure to get your fill while you can. Varieties such as Silver Queen are particularly sweet and tender, and all are high in fiber, vitamins A & B, and minerals. Look for corn at all three of our markets, perfect paired with some pork on the grill, or as a side item to a crawfish boil!

Tuesday’s Green Plate Special

We are loving the empanadas every Tuesday for lunch (sometimes we even eat them as a savory breakfast!) and can’t believe there are only 2 more Tuesdays to enjoy Empanada Intifada at the market. Come on out again this week and chose from their delicious selection. Have you tried their side items? Tasty poblano mac and cheese, and a fresh salad or soup are the perfect add-on!

In addition to tasty sweet corn, fresh red beans are back at market! Use both of these summertime veggies in these Red Bean Cakes with Roasted Corn and Mushroom Salsa, a hearty meatless main course or side item (we have been known to serve this at brunch as well!). Pick up red beans from Indian Springs Cooperative on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
