Ten delicious recipes accompany the stories and photographs from our beloved food region. Southeast Louisiana Food is a great gift for the food lover(s) in your life- even if that happens to be you! Pick of the Week: Strawberries!

You know it’s holiday season when strawberries show up at market. Miss Heather of Johndale Farm has her table full of sweet red berries, ready for your snacks, salads, desserts and dinner. You know you can eat them whole or topping your favorite salad or cereal, but have you ever tried making an easy strawberry sauce to top pork by sautéing strawberries and balsamic vinegar to taste in a skillet? Give it a shot this week and let us know what you think!

Tuesday’s Green Plate Special

Last week’s lunch with Canal Street Bistro was delicious! They’re back with us again this Tuesday with a great looking menu consisting of Tacos (chorizo & egg, carnitas & chile con carne), Black Bean and Quinoa Salad, Tortilla Soup, Cuban Sandwiches, and Coconut Flan. Be sure to come out hungry tomorrow!

Cranberries are in abundance in stores everywhere, so why not pair them with sweet strawberries for these delicious Cranberry and Louisiana Strawberry Shortcakes. This recipe is courtesy of one of our favorite market supporters, Chef Kristen Essig of Meauxbar. Pair with fresh whipped cream and coffee for a tasty breakfast or milk for a sweet dessert!
