Celebrating 20 years of the CCFM this Saturday!

Fresh & Local

Can you believe it’s been 20 years since we first opened our umbrellas at the muraled Reily parking lot at Magazine and Girod? When Richard McCarthy, Sharon Litwin and John Abajian co-founded the Crescent City Farmers Market in 1995, they aimed to create a public space where New Orleanians could meet, greet, and make groceries that were fresh and produced locally. A place where rubbing shoulders with farmers, chefs, and neighbors alike would be a weekly occurrence. 20 years later we’re still gathering every Saturday to keep the dream alive and to help our small farming, fishing, and food producing families thrive. Join us this Saturday as we raise a toast to 20 years of the Crescent City Farmers Market. We’ll have music from the Roamin’ Jasmine starting at 9 a.m. and cake from Rivista and beet lemonade from Amanda to pass around at 10 a.m. You may even see some old faces coming out to make and appearance. And remember, tickets are still available for our 20th Anniversary Moonlight Market fundraiser on October 10th so buy yours today to keep the festivities going with us! pick of the week

Pick of the Week:

Cooler mornings and evenings mean greens are slowly coming back. We’ve been seeing more and more mustard greens creeping into market and we can’t wait until market explodes with kale, collards, turnips, and the like. Come on out and grab a bunch this week, but be sure to get to market right as it opens because it’s still early in the season and they go fast!

Tuesday’s Green Plate Special

L’enfant Terrible is back this Tuesday to dish out another round of delicious market fresh fare. Join us from 9-1pm tomorrow, make some groceries and grab a plate for yourself!

Recipe of the Week

Fall is almost here but you can still see plenty of signs of summer lingering at market. Pick up a basket of okra before it’s gone and try out this Shrimp and Okra Bhuna recipe!
