Spend some time at the Crescent City Farmers Market and, between the veggies, seafood and fresh bread, you’ll likely spot some familiar chefs from local restaurants making the rounds of the vendors’ booths.
At the Moonlight Market, however, many of those same chefs are on the other side of the table, preparing and serving market-fresh dishes on the spot.
Moonlight Market is the annual fundraiser for the Crescent City Farmers Market, and it returns Oct. 8. It’s a casually festive night of robustly fresh food and creative drinks, often inspired by the seasonal haul from the market stands.Read the full story in The Advocate New Orleans.
Market Umbrella is an independent nonprofit 501(c)(3), based in New Orleans, whose mission is to cultivate the field of public markets for public good. Market Umbrella has operated the Crescent City Farmers Markets (CCFM) since 1995.
The Crescent City Farmers Market operates weekly year-round in four New Orleans neighborhoods. The CCFM hosts nearly 80 local small farmers, fishers and food producers, and more than 100,000 shoppers annually.
