The downtown Crescent City Farmers Market will move its Saturday market to a new location in the Central Business District this fall after more than 20 years at the corner of Girod and Magazine streets. Market hours will remain from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
The organization said Saturday (Aug. 27) the market will move Oct. 1 to the parking lot of the May Gallery at 750 Carondelet St. The market will continue to operate at its current location until the move.
Kate Parker, executive director of Market Umbrella, the parent organization behind Crescent City Farmers Market, said the new location is larger and allows the market to keep its presence downtown as vendors and shoppers wanted.
The Domain Companies, a partner in the lot and the adjacent buildings, has agreed to donate the space. The developer also donates space to the May Gallery, which showcases international contemporary art.Visit NOLA.com to read the rest of the story.
