Join us at the Crescent City Farmers Market Tuesday, April 22, when restaurateur Ralph Brennan will be signing copies of the hot-off-the-presses Ralph Brennan's New Orleans Seafood Cookbook. The book, co-authored by New Orleans food writer Gene Bourg and featuring photographs by Kerri McCaffety, is chock-full of recipes and cooking tips gleaned from the Brennan family's three generations in the local restaurant business.
The Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group — BACCO, Redfish Grill, Jazz Kitchen and Ralph's on the Park — also happens to be providing our weekly Green Plate Special throughout the month of April. At this week's Tuesday Market, be sure to stop by the GPS tent, where BACCO chef Chris Montero will be cooking up Gulf Shrimp Bolognese and Lemon Ice Box Pie, two dishes featured in the new cookbook.
Brennan joined the family business in the early 1980s after a successful stint as a certified public accountant. In addition to the four Ralph Brennan Group restaurants, he is co-owner of Mr. B's Bistro, Commander's Palace and Brennan's of Houston. He has served as president of both the Louisiana Restaurant Association and the New Orleans Restaurant Association, among other posts. And this year the Brennan family earned a leadership award from the Culinary Institute of America, one of only three families to receive the honor collectively.
The book, which was four years in the making, includes a comprehensive seafood cooking manual along with 170 recipes for both classic and contemporary seafood preparation.
Join us Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to celebrate the cookbook's release and for the opportunity to meet one of the local restaurant industry's true leaders. While you're here, be sure and pick up some fresh Louisiana seafood and try out a few of these great recipes!
