Join us in welcoming our Robertson Scholar, Austin Stanion, who will be interning at the Crescent City Farmers Market this summer. You can catch him working the Welcome Tent at our market Uptown on Tuesdays and in the Warehouse District on Saturdays. You may even run into Austin on Thursdays at the Mid-City Green Market; this summer he will be busy learning about New Orleans’ markets firsthand and helping us with our economic evalaluaton device, SEED.
Austin Stanion was born and raised in central North Carolina where he has just finished his freshman year at UNC-Chapel Hill as a Robertson Scholar. The Robertson Scholars Program aims to foster collaboration between UNC and Duke University, as well as provide opportunities for students to become leaders in social entrepreneurship. The scholarship allows students from UNC and Duke to work for organizations all over the world during their summers.
Austin is studying urban and regional planning at UNC and is especially interested in making communities more sustainable and better places to live. He is very excited to be working with Crescent City Farmers Market this summer and can’t wait to explore the city of New Orleans.
