Join us every Saturday during the month of June to celebrate all aspects of eating locally!
The Crescent City Farmers Market is excited to be a part of the 2012 Eat Local Challenge. Every Saturday in June we'll host a different activity in conjunction with this celebration of our local bounty. As always, keep an eye on our Crescent City Farmers Market facebook page for the most up-to-date information.
June 2nd: Monthly Marketeer Club Kids Event, 9 am to 11 am - To celebrate the kickoff of the 2012 Eat Local Challenge, we're making (and enjoying!) an all local minted fruit salad. Stop by and learn about where and how the fruit is grown, and take home a special treat for participating (Children up to age 14, and parents too!)
June 9th: Annual Cookbook Swap, 9 am to 11 am - Join the Crescent City Farmers Market in recycling your used cookbooks. Bring an old book you've already cooked your way through and exchange it for something new (to you).
June 16th: "Catch a Buzz" Beekeeping Information Session, 9 am to 11 am - Drop by the Saturday market to learn more about beekeeping from CCFM vendor Paw Paw Mouton's son (betcha didn't know that he's a beekeeper just like his dad!). The Mouton men will be on hand to answer questions about beekeeping and starting your own apiary. As always, Paw Paw's honey will be available for purchase at the Saturday market.
June 23rd: "Discover You Can" Preserving and Canning Demo, 9 am to 11 am - The Crescent City Farmers Market was one of 30 lucky U.S. farmers markets selected by Jarden Home Brands, maker of Ball Brand Fresh Preserving Products, to participate in their summer canning educational program. Join us for the first in a series of our three summer preserving and canning demonstrations.
June 30th: "Break it Down" Composting and Gardening, 9 am to 11 am - Join us to learn how you can extend your commitment to eating locally by enhancing your soil and gardening year-round.
