Eat Local Challenge at CCFM!

Fresh & Local

The different colors of our fruits and veggies are a sign of distinct nutrients. We remind our youngsters to “eat the rainbow”, but how often do we really push ourselves? A fun market challenge can be to see how many fruits and veggies you can purchase that aren’t the conventional varieties. Purple okra, white eggplant, striped tomatoes, speckled green beans, and more! And to keep things classic, remember to get some fresh Gulf shrimp because Spring shrimping season is really rolling!

We’ve got some fantastic events lined up for this week in partnership with the Eat Local Challenge! On Wednesday, we will be playing farmers market bingo (prizes galore!), and on Saturday come to the market at 9am for our market meet-up to discuss a farmers market inspired BBQ, then stick around for a bee keeping demo by farmers market vendor Jerry Burg.

HK NOLA is back in action! When they’re not growing their own produce, you can find them shopping at the Crescent City Farmers Market for the finest ingredients.
