We Love Satsuma Season



Fresh & Local:

Sure, Dennis and the Monica’s have held us over with their small baskets of scrumptious early satsumas the last few weeks, but the wait is over - citrus season has officially begun, folks! Returning to the market this week are two of our infamous citrus vendors, Star Nursery and L’Hoste Family Farm. We have caught wind of some good stuff coming our way including navel oranges and lemons! Citrus is great in and on everything - fish, salad, sweets, a little acidity in your pico, and a zing on your chicken. Hold on to your margaritas y’all, this is only the beginning!

Market Mash

Celebrate Halloween at the market on Tuesday, October 31st! Enjoy spooky music from Spider Murphy and fun activities like satsuma decorating. Bring the kids to make a personalized bag and visit our ghoulish vendors for some treats. Costumes encouraged! Don’t forget to snap a picture at our festive photo booth and tag us on social media!

Market Umbrella is happy to announce that we’ve partnered with the Broadmoor Improvement Association to lead its monthly Cook Dat class at the Rosa Keller Library. Cook Dat features healthy recipes that showcase items available at the Broadmoor Food Pantry. We're always excited about engaging with the community and eating healthy on a budget; so come see what we’re cooking up every fourth Friday of the month- except for the Friday after Thanksgiving; we'll be busy eating leftovers.

Two Dog Farms

We are pleased to welcome to the Tuesday market Two Dog Farms! Hailing from Flora, Mississippi, Van and wife Dorothy bring to us naturally grown produce (no synthetic fertilizers or pesticides used) in varieties heretofore unseen at CCFM. Welcome sunshine kabocha - a sweet and velvety winter squash and rainbow dino kale - like dino kale but chock full of antioxidants in its purple stems and veins. They’ll be staples at the uptown market March through December, winter depending, so come on out and check out some beautiful new produce!

La Monita Pop Up

Last week to catch La Monita at the market. Simple, delicious Colombian inspired food made from locally sourced ingredients. Arepas, plantains, tropical fruits and everything in between inspired by a monita’s (Colombian slang for blond girl) culinary journey through the amazing country. Catch them around New Orleans, popping up at awesome local businesses, like CCFM. Check them out here!
