Categories: Recipes Date: Aug 11, 2014 Title: Asian Pear Dessert Pizza
Since Asian pear season is so short, this blue cheese and walnut studded Asian Pear Dessert Pizza is an absolute must. Don’t let the homemade dough recipe intimidate you. It’s quick and easy, and results are well worth the effort.
To prepare Basic Pizza Dough: In a medium-sized bowl, combine 3/4 cup flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Add hot water and stir until mixture is smooth. Mix in enough of remaining 1/2 cup flour to make a soft dough. Knead dough on a floured surface for about 3 to 5 minutes or until dough is smooth and elastic. Invert a bowl over the dough and let sit for 15 minutes.
To assemble pizza: Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Spray a 12-inch pizza pan with cooking spray. Using your hands, spread dough on the pan, stretching it to the edges and making a rim around the edge.
In a small bowl, combine flour and 2 tablespoons of the sugar; mix well. Toss the pear slices with the flour and sugar mixture. Drizzle honey over the dough. Arrange pears on dough and spray lightly with cooking spray. Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup sugar and cinnamon over pears, then top with blue cheese, walnuts, and raisins.
Bake pizza at 425 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until crust is browned.
