On Tuesdays this month, Jason Goodenough is on a tight schedule as soon as he arrives at market. After unloading his cooking utensils and condiments, Goodenough dashes through market picking up Creole tomatoes, juicy watermelons and Ms. Clara’s crabmeat. Almost immediately after gathering these goods, he opens up for business. Goodenough, chef and owner of Carrollton Market in the Riverbend, is serving up lunch as CCFM's Green Plate Special this July. His menu this month has featured plates ranging from refreshing tomato and watermelon gazpacho to market fresh BLTs and  fresh creole tomato salads sprinkled with Ryals' feta cheese. Sitting behind a delectable assortment of fresh pastas, food enthusiast Daniel Esses warmly greets passerbyers while showcasing his homemade Gnocchi. When he’s not selling, Esses, of Three Muses,  zips through market, picking up Louisiana peaches and creole tomatoes, while chatting up other New Orleans chefs. Esses recently rejoined the Crescent City Farmers Market as a vendor, selling his fresh pasta through Esses Foods, and has been a loyal chef customer for quite some time. French Market Announces Launch of New Weekly Farmers Market in Partnership with Market Umbrella

Market to begin in October 2014

(New Orleans, Louisiana—May 21, 2014) The French Market Corporation (FMC) Board of Directors approved a cooperative endeavor between French Market Corporation and Market Umbrella to create a year-round weekly farmers market featuring local growers and products, data analysis of community needs, census of market visitors, mentorship of current daily Farmers Market operators, as well as a new food incubator program to shepherd local culinary entrepreneurs.

Crescent City Farmers Market

 

The Crescent City Farmers Market operates weekly year-round in four New Orleans neighborhoods. The CCFM hosts nearly 80 local small farmers, fishers and food producers, and more than 100,000 shoppers annually.
