Since it first hit the streets of Downtown New Orleans in 1995, the Crescent City Farmers Market has served as an incubator for developing best practices in market management. It hasn't always been easy, but our struggles have helped us identify where the pitfalls lie and how to apply the lessons we've learned when mentoring other markets. Our experience has confirmed the view that has guided us from the beginning: that public markets produce tangible benefits for consumers, producers and the communities that host them. We have developed tools that can measure those benefits, and programs that can help you grow your market, adapt to changing circumstances and manage the inevitable conflicts that arise.
