Farmers markets in the United States have been growing at an astonishing pace: from about 1,755 in 1994 to more than 6,000 today, according to The Farmers Market Coalition. They serve more than 3 million customers and provide outlets for more than 30,000 farmers and producers each year, and generate approximately $1 billion in consumer spending. The Crescent City Farmers Market's parent organization, marketumbrella.org, is proud to be a founding member of the coalition. Together, we're building healthier, stronger communities where farmers markets can flourish.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Marketing Service maintains a searchable database of farmers markets throughout the country. Click here to find a market near you.
