Fresh Item of the Week

fresh item of the week

The Crescent City Farmers Market "Hot List"made its debut Friday, and we were overwhelmed by the response! There are still many great Hot List items up for grabs. Come to the market this week and buy one of these insider tours, teachings and tastings, and support the market! Hot List items can also be purchased by phone (504-861-4485) Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm. A huge thank you to each of our wonderful donors!

Tuesday Market, November 20, 2012 | 9 am - 1 pm

Uptown New Orleans | 200 Broadway Street at the River

This Tuesday we welcome CCFM supporter and cookbook author Poppy Tooker to the market to sign copies of the recently republished Madame Begue's Recipes of Old New Orleans Creole Cookery. The inventor of "brunch", Madame Begue left a wonderful and delicious legacy in New Orleans, which Poppy revives in this fantastic new cookbook. Come get a signed copy for your library or to give this holiday season.

green plate special

We love having La Divina Gelateria as this month's Green Plate Special featured restaurant. On this Tuesday's menu: truffled cauliflower soup, braciole, sautéed greens and fresh mozzarella sandwich, green beans with pine nuts, and turnip parmesan fries with smokey tomato "catsup". Save the cooking for later this week and enjoy lunch at the market!

Thursday Market, November 22, 2012 | CLOSED

Mid-City New Orleans | 3700 Orleans Avenue at the Bayou

Closed for Thanksgiving! We'll be thinking about how grateful we are for our wonderful farmers, fishers, shoppers and community. Enjoy your day and eat well!

Saturday Market, November 24, 2012 | 8 am - 12 noon

Downtown New Orleans | 700 Magazine Street at Girod

Check a few items off your grocery list this Saturday, and get some ideas for holiday gift giving. Citrus trees from Star Nursery made great gifts - especially with market tokens tucked in the card. Put together an herb garden starter kit with plants from Mizell Farms. Make your own lemocello or satsumacello, spiced nuts or hot pepper vinegar using market ingredients. The options are endless!

Recipe of the Week

Nothing says Fall more than sweet potatoes and pecans from the market. This Sweet Potato Pecan Muffin recipe is perfect for a chilly morning breakfast for a few or a crowd. They'd also make an interesting addition to the Thanksgiving dinner table, or a casual day-after Thanksgiving brunch.
