Fresh Item of the Week

fresh item of the week

We're coming to the end of National Healthy Skin Month, but you can eat for healthy skin year-round. A few of our favorite healthy skin foods include dairy (like the local milk and yogurt available from Rocking R Dairy, Mauthe's Progress Milk Barn on Tuesdays and Henry Mauthe on Thursdays) for its wrinkle fighting proteins, sweet potatoes for the high doses of collagen-boosting vitamin C, spinach for its cancer-cell slowing folate, and tomatoes for their free-radical busting lycopene. What are your favorite healthy skin foods? Share your thoughts with us on our Crescent City Farmers Market Facebook page.

Last Thursday we were closed for Thanksgiving, but we're back this week! Did you know that there are items you can only get at our Thursday market? From the Core's curly green kale to Mr. Henry Mauthe's creole cream cheese, the market is bursting with special Thursday only items! Saturday Market, November 24, 2012 | 8 am - 12 noon

Downtown New Orleans | 700 Magazine Street at Girod

Join us this Saturday for our monthly Marketeers event! This weekend, we kick off December by making holiday cards using sweet potato stamps. Come craft with us and learn all about sweet potatoes. If your child (under age 16) is not already a member of our free Marketeers Club, pick up a registration form at the Welcome Tent of any of our three weekly markets, or download one here.

Recipe of the Week

There are likely to still be cranberries in grocery stores from the holidays, and there are plenty of local berries at the market right now for these Louisiana Strawberry & Cranberry Shortcakes, courtesy of one of our sweetest market supporters, Chef Kristen Essig of NOLA Bean.
