Learn to Bake Bread with Bellegarde Bakery!

Graison Gill, the baker and mind behind Bellegarde Bakery, is offering a series of monthly events all about one of our favorite topics: bread! The first workshop, Flour 101, is on September 16 at St. James Cheese Company and is not to be missed. Come learn the art and science of bread making, and hear one of New Orleans most passionate bakers talk about flour, bread, and beyond! Pick of the Week: Cantaloupe!

With this summer heat lingering on, it’s nice to keep a stock of cool treats near by. And what’s a better summer time treat than a cool slice of cantaloupe? These popular melons aren’t just sweet, they’re also packed with anti-oxidants and are a great source of vitamins A and C. We’re really excited to see that Poché Family Farm has been bringing loads with them to our Tuesday and Thursday markets this week. So, if you’re feeling like a slice of melon would do you right this week, don’t hesitate and come pick some up!

Tuesday’s Green Plate Special

Last Tuesday Seed came out with a twist on the classic B.L.T., their C.L.T. with coconut chips, lettuce and tomato. The Crescent City Farmers Market operates weekly year-round in four New Orleans neighborhoods. The CCFM hosts nearly 80 local small farmers, fishers and food producers, and more than 100,000 shoppers annually.
