Community Supported Fisheries with CCFM

Fresh & Local

Mardi Gras is here and in full swing, which means Lent is just around the corner. We can already smell those wonderful Friday fish fries and seafood boils that signify the arrival of this time of the year. This Lenten season make a commitment to supporting local fishing families by signing up for a Community Supported Fisheries subscription at market. Subscriptions are available with Pete and Clara’s Seafood (pick-up available at Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday markets) and Four Winds Seafood (pick-up available at Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday markets). A $100 subscription reserves 6 weekly shares (feeds two adults) of fresh local seafood, starting February 18th. To sign up, visit Clara Gerica of Pete and Clara’s Seafood or Kay Brandhurst of Four Winds Seafood at market. For more information, click here or check out our Crescent City Support Fisheries Facebook page, and be sure to sign up soon!

Pick of the Week: King Cake!

Tis the season, and that means time to put that New Year diet on hold (though not for too long) and eat some King Cake! There are so many options for King Cake in this city, it’s almost enough to make your head spin. Why not try a King Cake from one of our many talented food producers at market and make your next visit with us a one stop shop? Whether it’s a decadent Praline Pecan King Cake from Challah at Me, a gluten-free and vegan cake from Girls Gone Vegan or an all natural King Cake filled with creole cream cheese from Locally Preserved, you’re sure to find the right cake for you and yours. For more information on who has King Cake at which markets and information on special orders click here. Happy Mardi Gras everybody!

Market Closures!

Due to parades rolling in the CBD, we’ll be closing our Saturday market this Saturday, Feb. 14th at 11am! Be sure to come out early and get some fresh flowers for your sweet because it’s Valentine’s Day too! Then we’ll be closed the following Tuesday, Feb. 17th for Mardi Gras Day and back to business as usual at our Wednesday market on Feb. 18th with all the fresh fruit and produce you’ll need for your Ash Wednesday cleanse.
