Eggs-actly what you need.

Eggs are one of the most nutritious foods you can put into your body! They’re packed with protein in a low calorie form. And they consist of a beneficial blend of vitamin B, omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, and iodine - a combo that works together to fight fatigue and enhance moods!

Eating farm-fresh eggs is even more valuable. Research shows they contain up to seven times more nutrients than regular eggs! Most of that is attributed to the well rounded diet farm animals consume. Farm-fresh eggs also require less processing and come from happier animals! But local eggs are somewhat seasonal because chickens become heat stressed and don’t lay as much in the summer. The good news there is we have plenty of vendors who have eggs in the hot season! So do yourself a favor and shop the market for locally sourced eggs from our vendors who sell them. You can find eggs at any of our markets, but get there early because they sell out!

Bonnecaze Farm

It’s been a year since the August 2016 floods wiped out the facilities and home of Bonnecaze Farm. It took strength, resilience, and some help, but they’re back as and as good as ever! Find Stacy Bonnecaze at the Tuesday market and try her grits, corn flour, oatmeal, polenta, pepper jellies, seasonings, and cornbread.

Market Umbrella is an independent nonprofit 501(c)(3), based in New Orleans, whose mission is to cultivate the field of public markets for public good. Market Umbrella has operated the Crescent City Farmers Markets (CCFM) since 1995.

Crescent City Farmers Market

 

The Crescent City Farmers Market operates weekly year-round in four New Orleans neighborhoods. The CCFM hosts nearly 80 local small farmers, fishers and food producers, and more than 100,000 shoppers annually.
