Fresh Item of the Week
Tuesday Market, March 15, 2011 | 9 am - 1 pm
Bon Vivant Produce is back this week with gorgeous greenhouse tomatoes (not hydroponic - these tomatoes are grown in a mix of peat and pine bark). Right now Patrick and Malcolm are growing three varieties - Heritage, Blitz and Big Dina, all deep red, flavorful and juicy. You'll find them on the menu at Clancy's and Patois. Try some in your home cooking this week.
Thursday Market, March 17, 2011 | 3 pm - 7 pm
Happy St. Patrick's Day! Come to the market for all things green: collards and kale from Jim Core (look for his Gumbo Z'Herbes mix in the coming weeks), loose lettuces, chard and baby collards from Oakland Organic, seasonal pestos from urban grower Paul Arceneaux, native plants and spring vegetable starts from Jesse Gaudet of Plant Diversity in St. Francisville, and more!
Saturday Market, March 19, 2011 | 8 am - 12 noon
It's time to get plants in the ground! Come see Clarence Mizell this Saturday for tips on cutting plants back for maximum growth and new plants to put in the ground. Whether you're looking to landscape with native plants (many varieties of plants you'll find at big box chain retailers aren't suitable for our climate, so you'll likely end up replacing them over and over again) or plant a spring/summer vegetable and herb garden, Clarence Mizell can help.
