During Mardi Gras it's tough to focus on anything besides costume making and parade schedules. This said, it's not too late to sign up for a full subscription to our new Crescent City Supported Fisheries - just double up on shares one week. This CSF (Community Supported Fisheries - think local seafood CSA) program is a great way to support Louisiana fishing families and enjoy fresh caught, local seafood during Lent. Pay in advance for one or more shares of Pete & Clara Gerica's catch, then pick up weekly shares at our Thursday evening Mid-City CCFM for Lenten Friday fish frys, shrimp boils and seafood poboys. Bon Vivant Produce is back this week with gorgeous greenhouse tomatoes (not hydroponic - these tomatoes are grown in a mix of peat and pine bark). Right now Patrick and Malcolm are growing three varieties - Heritage, Blitz and Big Dina, all deep red, flavorful and juicy. You'll find them on the menu at Clancy's and Patois. Try some in your home cooking this week.

Woody Ruiz has built quite a reputation for himself with the fish tacos he sells at markets around town. What makes them so delicious? Woody uses the absolute freshest local fish, plus his secret recipe spicy remoulade sauce and slaw. Woody will also have shrimp tacos and pork tacos. All are available with sides of vegan black beans and Cajun Grain Allen Parish-grown brown jasmine rice.
