Happy Halloween! We love this holiday so much that we're extending the costuming and celebrating through to this weekend for our first Saturday of the month Marketeer activity. Kids, put on those costumes one more time and come do the Market Mash with us this Saturday, November 5. No tricks - just more treats! Make your way through the market for treats like kettlecorn, Ryals Rocking R Dairy chocolate milk and Plaquemines Parish satsumas. Market Mash trick-or-treating is free and open to the public while supplies last, so come early!

Thanks again to the Ralph Brennan Restaurant Group for an October full of delicious Green Plate Special lunches. This month Ann Churchill of Karma Kitchen will be under the tent. She kicks things off this Tuesday with lentil, Meyer lemon and cilantro soup, quinoa salad with pomegranate and Rockin' R Dairy goat cheese, lamb shwarma or homemade falafel with oven-roasted market vegetables, and Iranian pistachio cake.

We're thrilled to have newly-wed farmer John Barlett back at our Thursday market. Pick up some of his gorgeous greens and other heirloom vegetables for a delicious fall supper. The cut flowers his mother grows also make a beautiful addition to the dinner table.

Recipe of the Week

This recipe for Focaccia Pizza with Local Veggies and Goat Cheese gets dinner on the table in about 20 minutes. Pick up focaccia from Lisa Barbato, goat cheese from Bill Ryals of Rockin' R Dairy and farm fresh veggies from your favorite produce vendor, throw the pizza in the oven and enjoy.
