Ponchatoula srawberries are back at the market! We were overjoyed to welcome Heather Robertson of Johndale Farms back to the market with her beautiful berries. These first berries of the season are so sweet, both in taste and in beauty. Strawberries are perfect for a snack, added to a salad, baked into breads and muffins and used in smoothies. Weather permitting, Heather will be at every Tuesday and Saturday market, and some Thursday markets as well.

Our Tuesday market is bursting with fresh produce! John Bartlett's beautiful greens and carrots, Gladys and her grandson A.J. Core's kale and brussels sprouts, the Ledet's tasty hothouse tomatoes, Star Nursery's colorful citrus, Vintage Gardens interesting peppers and herbs (tamarind!), Timmy Perrillioux's oversized cauliflower and chard, Indian Springs gorgeous greens, Isabel's red radishes and the Monica's cushaws... just to name a few!

This month we welcome Amano to the Green Plate Special tent with an incredibly delicious menu to start things off: marinated beets with toasted pecans and local citrus, cavatelli with roasted carrots, carrot green pesto and Pecorino, goat and pork sausage with winter squash and an agrodolce sauce, and a dessert of rosemary panna cotta with satsuma marmalade. Come grab a plate!

With cold season just getting started, make sure you're getting enough vitamin C in your diet. A great way to do this is with juicy Louisiana citrus. Recipe of the Week

We have Poppy Tooker to thank for this week's recipe for Candied Grapefruit Peel. Poppy juices Plaquemines Parish grapefruit to make cocktails, then candies the peel for garnish.
